How this Group Works

Our hope and desire for this group is to create a rich resource of Second Life makers who create poses and animations in-world

If you make animations or poses, start your own thread in this group's discussion forum and be sure to include an inWorld SLUrl and the name the business operates under, as well as your SL avatar's name.

If you're a film-maker and want to give a maker you like some love, comment to their thread or invite them to visit here.

Cisko started a couple of threads already that are recommendation lists.  If you like, add to those too!

Pose Fair starts tomorrow.  Here's Kara's blogpost on it:

That's incredibly useful insight Hypatia.

I've not yet acquired Crazy Talk because I'll have to set up another machine to run it (I don't have a ready-to-use Windows machine right now) and I'm a little less inclined after considering your perspective (no pun intended) on this.

Also, I hadn't considered combining emote animations with actual avatar modifications to the appearance.  That seems like a brilliant approach.

Second Life doesn't have much more than the ones you find (often the same ones repackaged under different names).  Yadni Emotes allows you at least to combine facial expressions (often to ludicrous effect).  The only problem with Crazy Talk for me is that it forces you to do full-face headshots for it to work... which is cinematically lame.  Three quarter or profile shots don't work.  Some of the emotes in SL are improved by shooting in profile or three-quarter shots, and also by modifying your avatar's facial features in "appearance" (just make a copy of the default body before you do that so you can return).  It's amazing what narrowing the eyes or turning the lips up can do to change the look on your avatar's face before you apply the emotes. Be resourceful.

@rggiano - the Place is right - but..... if u wanna have more emotional facial expressions, use either "Crazy Talk", or change to other Programs.

hi everyone.. not sure if this is the right place to ask (i'm new in here) :  is there a set of more real-looking facial anims out there somewhere, instead of the "cartoon-like" equivalents that we all know of ?  thx :)

well - to import them in open Sim or a standalone solution might be the best option.
the phoenix viewer in gegeral allowes a preview before uploading.
